Mississippi Rice

Eight counties in Northwest Mississippi are proud to be home to the majority of rice producers in Mississippi. Bolivar County was the top producing county in 2016.

Our 259 rice farming families contributed $139 million in value to the state’s economy thorough the rice they grew Rice farming provides for thousands of jobs, both on and off the farm. Rice also ranks among the state’s top agricultural exports.

Known for its ability to blend well with any food pairings, Rice is also nutritious and economical.   Rice, the least allergenic of all grains, is also gluten-free.

French Onion Rice

1 cup uncooked rice

10 ounce can condensed French onion soup

10 ounce can beef broth

1/2 cup butter

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

In a 9×9 inch baking dish combine rice, soup and broth.

Cut butter into slices and place on top of the mixture.

Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove cover and bake 30 minutes more.
