Mississippi Farm Grown Freshness is what you will find at U-Pick farms and Farmers markets. Local farm families grow numerous varieties of produce for their families and yours! Many are also certified organic farmers.
From spring through fall many vegetables and fruits are grown on small acreages for sale in local markets. In Mississippi, there are 43 different varieties of vegetables grown commercially.

Fresh Broccoli Salad
2 heads fresh broccoli
1/2 red onion
1/2 pound bacon
3/4 cup raisins
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1/3 cup white sugar
2 Tablespoons white wine or red wine vinegar
Cook bacon until evenly brown. Cool and crumble.
Cut the broccoli into bite-size pieces. Cut the onion into thin bite-size slices. Combine with the bacon, raisins, nuts and mix well.
To prepare the dressing, mix the mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar and vinegar together until smooth. Stir into the salad, let chill and serve.
